Last week my son and I* visited a Cool New Place in Tel Aviv. It’s a restaurant called The Dining Hall (rough translation). It’s done up like a traditional kibbutz communal dining hall, but the food is urban gourmet. I was more than intrigued by the idea that the kibbutz is now so passe that it’s inspiration for “retro” restaurant interior design. Anyway, this was kinda trumped by an announcement I saw today that a bookstore in Portland, Oregon (where else?) is offering real, live books if you trade in your Kindle.
How’s that for so In it’s Out?
*We were on our way to a performance of Asaf Avidan and the Mojos and a local symphony orchestra. Another weird combination, equally delicious.
