The world’s smallest library?

Posted by Amalyah Keshet on Monday November 30 2009

This little item’s brilliance is that it combines library science, recycling, remixing, community building and social media — and antique collecting, too, I suppose.

“A traditional red phone box has been recycled into one of the country’s smallest lending libraries – stocking 100 books.

Villagers from Westbury-sub-Mendip in Somerset can use the library around the clock, selecting books, DVDs and CDs.

Users simply stock it with a book they have read, swapping it for one they have not…”

It’s just so low-tech cool.

If they used Dr Who technology, they could fit many many more books in there!

The picture alone is worth the blog entry

I love it! I once lived in an apartment building that sort-of did this in the lobby, near the mailboxes.
I wonder if they had to pose the line, or if there really was one?
