I went to the Corning glass works as a kid — I was maybe 8, 10 years old, which makes it almost 40 years ago — and it’s still a vibrant memory: the original Palomar mirror, the Steuben glass, the amazing kaleidoscopes, and fabulous, delicate glass animals (my favorite was the swan) that we gently took home, wrapped in layers of tissue paper, from the gift shop. Magic. Glad they’re still working it!
