I’m gearing up to get back to blogging on a more regular basis after being away most of the spring and summer. (I’ve been earning the nickname a former housemate gave me – “Kohoutek“ – after the comet that only appears every 75,000 years).
Monome is a small organization in my hometown of Philadelphia. They’ve been building “minimalist interfaces” using an open-source and sustainable-friendly model. Both the hardware and the software that runs these simple-looking interfaces is modifiable by its users/owners.

We’ve occasionally discussed how we might include more “unconference” kinds of events at MCN. This makes me think it would also be fun to have an MCN Maker Faire sometime in the future. Alot of what we do and talk about is focused on software and flickrering screens, but the Maker community provides lots of interesting and provocative ideas about how we might think differently about building interactions. Can’t you see a Monome in a museum near you?
(thanks Etienne!)
